TV Logic 5.6” Monitor with Built-in HDMI to SDI Conversion

Our new TV Logic 5.6” On-board monitor solves on-set monitoring of HDMI material. A common issue with cameras such as the 5D and 7D is that the HDMI cable cannot be run for extended distances, and is often a cumbersome connection that is not ideal for location shoots. The way we have got around this in the past, is to convert the HDMI signal to SDI close to the camera, so we can use BNC Cable to run vision up to 80m from the camera. This has required a separate converter to process the signal – until now.

The TV Logic monitor can be fed by a short HDMI cable, and converts the signal to SDI which can be looped out to another monitoring device on set.

The most common way we see this used is with the TV Logic on- board as the camera operator’s monitor, which in-turn feeds out to a 17” Director/Client monitor.

Another neat feature of the monitor, is it’s ability to scale-up the image from the Canon 5D and

7D so the Director/Client only sees the actual recorded area, rather than the extended shaded areas around the edge of the frame. This can really save a lot of confusion on the day!
